Good morning everyone! Today I’m sharing my awesome hometown with you guys since it’s truly the perfect getaway from all of the hustle + bustle in Manhattan. So if you’re planning to visit NYC or if you live here and haven’t explored much of Brooklyn – this one’s for you!
9:30am: Coffee, duh!
For a yummy start to your morning, you can visit the Dunkin on 86th street + 5th avenue (a block away from the 86 street train station) to grab a warm bev. Right now I’m loving their lattes, and I like to get mine with almond milk. Their new espresso drinks are seriously delicious and you definitely need to try em! At the time of writing this, my latte cost under $3.
10:00am: Find a new favorite book
We have an adorable local bookstore on 84th street and 3rd avenue called The Bookmark Shoppe. Besides books, they also carry knitting supplies, cute gifts, and more! If you’re into witty + whimsical books, I highly recommend picking up Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan ($17).
11:00am: Time for a pizza party!
Just a short walk away from the bookstore is Casa Calamari on 86th street and 3rd avenue. It’s a pretty space to sit, eat, and chat with some friends (or people watch if you’re going solo). Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong with pizza for lunch!
12:00pm: Take a walk!
Bay Ridge is brimming with beautiful sights. There’s so much to see and do that I haven’t mentioned on this list, so I highly suggest exploring and making your own list!
No matter what you end up doing, I do hope you have fun. I’ve lived here my whole life and I’m always finding new restaurants, locations, cafes, stores, etc. As much as I love Manhattan, I feel like Bay Ridge is its dainty little cousin. If you do visit, tag me in your photo (@dessiekenna) so I can send some instalove your way! Thanks for reading 💛
